Collector's Garage 2008 and Velocita Garage 2008

Collector's Garage 2008

I bought this garage for RM60 (about USD16). This "V-Power Racing Collector's Garage 2008" will keep your collection away from dust. Each model has its own slot at the top of the garage's platform. You just flip the front lid upwards and place the car models at their designated "parking bays".

Velocita Garage 2008

I have another garage, the type that the Shell Stations used for display during the promotion period. I bought it from a seller at eBay. Not so sure if there is any special name given for this garage. Anyway, I just called it Velocita Garage.

What special about this garage is that it has a "Engine Start" button to produce a Ferrari engine sound. Quite disappointing since it only produces one sound. Wouldn't it be nice if it can produce the various sounds according to the car models?

All models have their own designated areas as you can see when you look at the bottom part of the garage.

There's a switch button at the battery compartment where you can switch it off when not in use. It uses three AAA batteries as shown below.

The overall make of this Velocita Garage is somehow not as what I expected. The entire body including the lid are made of plastic. I guess it was meant for the gas station outlets for display showcase, not meant to be sold to the public. So there's no need to spend so much money and make it as strong as the Collector's garage. Nonetheless, I think this garage makes a nice collection item for enthusiasts like myself.

Let's hear the sound!

2008 Helix Yellow Enzo Limited Edition

This yellow Enzo could only be bought with the purchase of Shell Helix product. It was sold at RM5.90 with every purchase of Shell Helix Ultra 4L or Helix Plus/Diesel Plus and at RM8.90 with the purchase of Shell Helix Super 3L/4L. Two models were given - this yellow Enzo and any of the seven models during the 2008 promotion.

Below are some pictures of the yellow Enzo from multiple angles.

It's interesting to note that the Helix logo was written on the undercarriage of the car model.

Shell-Ferrari Model Collection 2008

This is my first complete collection of Shell-Ferrari promotional series. Although I have a complete range of the 2007 Ferrari car models, I don't consider it as complete since I missed the 2007 Collector's Garage. I think many of us did not realise the existence of the garage during the campaign period.

There are 7 models altogether, all in 1:38 scale. When pulled back and released, the model will accelerate and produce dynamic engine sound. I don't think the sound produced by the model is realistic as claimed by Shell (or as written by the media), but at least it does its best to imitate the sound of a car if not a Ferrari supercar.

All models are in 1:38 scale and made of plastics:
1. FXX
2. 599 GTB Fiorano
3. F430 Challenge
4. F40
5. 250 GTO
6. 360 Challenge Stradale
7. 575 GTC

1. FXX

This is the most advanced model ever built at Maranello. Only 30 prototypes were made. Michael Schumacher was given the most unique unit - the only black FXX with the number 30 on its body - to mark the 30th or last FXX built.

2. 599 GTB Fiorano

"599 GTB Fiorano" means 5999cc, Gran Turismo Berlinetta (GTB) and the test circuit at Fiorano Modenese near Maranello.

3. F430 Challenge

A good example of technology transfer from F1 to a supercar. The gearbox and braking system comes from the Formula One technology.

4. 250 GTO

In 1962, was champion in the 24 Heures du Mans in its class.

5. F40

Built from 1987 until 1992. Can go up to 324kmh. Also competed in the 24 Heures du Mans race.

6. 360 Challenge Stradale

This V8 mid-engine supercar can accelerate up to 300 kmh.

7. 575 GTC

This model was developed by the Ferrari Corse Clienti department and N.Technology.
